PRACTICES

WE SALVAGE

TIMBER.

Riverside Mills customers choose our products for their superior quality, and because of our superior history of sustainable and ethical forestry harvesting practices. The timber we mill is salvaged from the forests and coastal waters of British Columbia, from logs provided by natural processes such as windfall from storms, from timber left behind during wholesale timber harvesting operations, and from breakage during transport of wholesale timber after harvesting.

WE CLEAN UP

THE FOREST.

By working to ensure that “lost” trees are recovered and utilized, Riverside Mills performs a valuable service to the environment and people of BC. Our harvesting practices help clean-up forests after traditional logging operations have taken place and remove dangerous “deadheads” as floating timber is referred to, from our waters, eliminating their threat to maritime traffic.

At Riverside Mills, we are a 100% circular facility, with the entirety of the timber brought into our mills being utilized for shake and shingle production or recycled into wood chips.

WE ARE 100%

RECYCLABLE.

Wood is the most environmentally responsible building material, and the only 100% naturally recyclable and biodegradable material used in the construction industry, requiring very little energy to extract, producing less waste, and generating less pollution, than products like aluminum, fiberglass, or concrete, and the same is true during re-use and recycling.

Riverside has been a proud member of the Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau since 1986
